Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs rumors: New Continuum-like feature spotted; tests being conducted in China
The rumors surrounding Samsung's next Galaxy S flagship, the S8, have not stopped. According to reports, the upcoming smartphone, which is already being tested in China, will apparently boast a Continuum-like feature.
For those who are unaware, the Continuum is a feature from the Windows 10 mobile, which allows users to plug in their Windows smartphones to a computer to project their phone screens onto the monitor. A feature not unlike the Continuum will reportedly be present on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, according to AAWP. A source named Robin apparently told the tech publication about it.
However, the report went on to say that despite its similarity to the Continuum, it is likely that it won't work the same way, in that it won't be as smooth. There is a high chance, though, of the feature being only available on Samsung devices. To back up the claim, a published photo of a slide that is supposedly from a Samsung presentation accompanies the report.
In other news, the yet-to-be announced Samsung Galaxy S8 is apparently being tested in China, reports reveal. Both models of the upcoming smartphone are reportedly involved in the tests. However, that doesn't mean that the Galaxy S8 isn't being tested anywhere else.
As for the rumored specifications, there has been talk of a major overhaul in terms of design. Samsung may be ridding the phone of the physical home button — opting for a soft key instead. The fingerprint scanner that is usually integrated into the home button may be moved to the back of the smartphone, although its exact position has yet to be determined.
There is also reason to believe that the upcoming Galaxy S8 will have an S Pen on board. Typically, the S Pen stylus is only exclusive to the Galaxy Note series, so this revelation is something worth noting. Both variants of the Galaxy S8 will also apparently sport curved screens.
Since nothing has been confirmed so far, readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt.
