Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date, specs rumors: Note 7 follow-up to arrive in April 2017 with dual cameras
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is still facing problems regarding its battery. So naturally, people are starting to wonder what the Galaxy Note 8 will be like. Rumor has it that the upcoming device will sport a better camera and may be released in April 2017.
Everyone knows that Samsung's main competition in the smartphone arena is Apple. And with Apple's latest iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung needs to up the ante a bit more. It has been said that the South Korean tech giant is planning to release the Galaxy Note 8 with improved cameras, much like the ones on the iPhone 7 Plus.
According to reports, Samsung has apparently applied for a patent that has to do with an improved camera. Additionally, the user interface of the camera on the Galaxy Note 8 is going to sport a major change when it comes to touchscreen gestures, especially when it comes to zooming. Users currently need to pinch their fingers together in order to zoom in on specific areas, but Samsung is reportedly working on a vertical sliding gesture in order to achieve this feat. It is also expected to have a dual camera.
Moreover, its cameras are going to boast impressive specifications. The main camera is rumored to come at 30 megapixels, while its front-facing snapper is rumored to arrive with 9 megapixels. Apart from that, there is also speculation of an S Pen coming in with the Galaxy Note 8. However, this new S Pen will not be without changes as it is also expected to have speakers on board.
When it comes to display, there is talk of the Galaxy Note 8 having 4K resolution. More and more smartphones are rumored to have a 4K display, so it does not come as a surprise that the Note 8 would be the subject of those as well. However, what makes 4K resolution on one of Samsung's smartphones really exciting is its compatibility with virtual reality (VR). As many fans know, Samsung already released its VR console, the Gear VR, which can be attached to some of its devices. A VR-ready Note 8 with 4K resolution is certainly going to take things up a notch.
As for its memory, it is widely believed that the Galaxy Note 8 will have 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB to 128 GB of built-in storage to choose from. Under the hood is a 4,200 mAh battery that may be charged without the need of plugging into anything. Its processor is expected to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 and it may run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.
Since these have not been confirmed, though, readers should take this news with a grain of salt.
