Samsung Galaxy Note 6 specs, release date rumors: Leaked details reveal 'Grace' code name and similar model number for all U.S. carriers

(Samsung)The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 successor may arrive as early as July or August.

With the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge already available in the market, South Korean conglomerate Samsung is ramping up production of its new flagship phablet — the Galaxy Note 6.

Just a few days ago, SamMobile released leaked details for the upcoming phablet. The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 has been code-named "Grace" and its model number listings indicate that all major carriers in the United States will have the same model number — SM-N930U. This means that Samsung will be able to release updates to its users much faster as compared to its present strategy.

Samsung has been keeping details of the Galaxy Note 6 under wraps. However, the phablet's specs have already been largely reported on by various media outlets.

The Galaxy Note 6 is rumored to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor, 6 GB of RAM, an iris scanner, and IP68 certification for water- and dust-resistance. It may also feature the same camera seen in the Galaxy S7 smartphone, specifically, a 12-megapixel rear camera with a f/1.7 aperture, phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, and LED flash. For selfies, the Galaxy Note 6 may come with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

After removing it from the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung is also expected to bring back expandable storage via the microSD card slot. Furthermore, the phablet may also ship with the new Android N OS out of the box.

In the past, Samsung usually introduces its new Galaxy Note phablets at the IFA Berlin held every September. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was released in August 2015. Now, rumors are suggesting that the Galaxy Note 6 would be released even earlier — sometime in July or August. Samsung's earlier release strategy is due to its desire to avoid competition from the new iPhone 7, rumored to be arriving in September.

More updates and latest news on the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 should arrive soon.
