'Rick and Morty' season 3 spoilers: Krombopulos lives, POTUS returns
A short video about a fan's theory on "Rick and Morty" and the existence of an alternate universe sent fans of the animated series into a frenzy. YouTube channel 'The Save Point Guild' broke the Internet with its 11-minute clip which detailed why the main characters many have been following may not be the real C-137 Rick and Morty.
The series is set to air its third season but very little has been known about what is going to happen to the sociopathic scientist and his curious grandchild. The video, which has been passed around since March, details an interesting theory that the upcoming installment will see Rick and Morty in a different universe, where popular assassin Krombopulos Michael is still alive. Fans know that the character died in season 2 when Rick and Morty ended up killing the bug-like hit man. Morty accidentally crushed Krombopulos while landing his grandfather's spaceship.
Meanwhile, co-creator Dan Harmon recently tweeted that Keith David's character, Earth's President of the United States, would return in season 3. The POTUS was first seen in the last installment's episode titled "Get Schwifty" where Rick, Morty and Ice-T, dabbed as the planet's last surviving musicians, took on a difficult task. They must come up with a musical hit to avoid annihilation of the entire specie due to planetary destruction.
The President entrusted Rick with the dangerous mission, hoping that his scientific genius would be enough to find a viable solution. In the end, Rick and the others managed to placate the Cromulons and prevented Armageddon. He and the POTUS became best buddies, even when the scientist admitted that he killed several soldiers. The politician thought it was a joke and even laughed at the idea.
When he returns, David's character will be in a tough spot, whereas Rick is likely an outlaw from the Galactic Federation overseeing the planet's One World government. It will be interesting to see how he will react to the change. Will he settle for lording over a small part of the galactic kingdom, or will he join Rick in his revolt for freedom and equality?
Adult Swim has yet to announce a premiere date for "Rick and Morty" season 3.
