'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date, spoilers news: New trailer launched by Adult Swim Australia is bogus

Adult Swim has yet to launch the third season of its adult animated science fiction sitcom "Rick and Morty." It has been a long time coming, and fans are growing anxious by the day. And launching bogus trailers for the upcoming season has not done fans any good nor has it sped up its development.

(Facebook/RickandMorty)"Rick and Morty" season 3 air date still up in the air

Prior to "Rick and Morty" creator Dan Harmon's confirmation of season 3 and explanation about the delay, rumors about a series cancellation were rife. Now that the third season has been confirmed, rumors are now gearing toward the possible story arcs of the upcoming season. One of the most brutal teasers perhaps is a trailer, allegedly for season 3, that recently went viral.

Adult Swim Australia launched the trailer, which momentarily got fans' hopes up. On its YouTube channel, they even named the clip "Rick and Morty – New Clip." And wrote "Rejoice! It's finally here" on the video's description box. But once viewed, fans will immediately be able to figure out that the clip is not the real first trailer for the forthcoming season. It is merely a compilation of clips from the previous seasons. A lot of fans pointed out that they have been tricked. While some thought it was funny, others seemed pretty upset.

Adult Swim Australia, on the other hand, said that it was a technical error on their part. They wrote, "Our sincerest apologies, there appears to have been a technical issue with our editing program we will attend to this as quickly as possible."

The video has received over 4 million views since it was uploaded on Monday, Feb. 20.

Adult Swim might not launch the new season anytime soon. "Rick and Morty" writer Mike McMahan took to Twitter to share that they just recorded the first episode for season 3.

More news and updates on "Rick and Morty" season 3 should arrive soon.
