'Reign' season 4 episode 5 spoilers, latest updates: Lord Darnley to prove his loyalty to Mary
Lord Darnley (Will Kemp) will prove his loyalty to Mary (Adelaide Kane) in episode 5, titled "Highland Games," of The CW's "Reign" season 4. Knowing fully well that Mary still has misgivings about him after he was confronted by several loyal men in the queen's court, Lord Darnley would have to earn Mary's trust and quite possibly, her love.
The promo video for episode 5 shows Lord Darnley getting into a fistfight while a crowd of men cheers them on. "How are we to believe you won't side with Elizabeth to save your own skin," one of Mary's loyal subjects asks Darnley. An irritated Darnley replies, "I cannot allow you to dishonor my name or my character," while Mary looks on confused and seemingly looking for answers as well.
Mary believes that marrying Lord Darnley will fortify her power and will give her an opportunity to take the throne from her cousin, Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten). While a union with Darnley seems like a good and promising political alliance, it would take more than just that to convince Mary to enter into marriage with him. It is highly likely that Mary will come up with a decision however way Darnley's fight in Scotland turns out.
The synopsis for the next episode also revealed that Catherine (Megan Follows) and Narcisse (Craig Parker) will do everything in their capacity to conceal King Charles' unseemly and strange behavior that may evolve into a potential threat to the throne. The two will attempt to protect his reputation with the hopes of suppressing his ghastly act.
Fans would have to wait to find out how Lord Darnley will fare in the fight to win Mary's heart as the show is canceled this week to make room for the two-hour finale episode of "The Vampire Diaries" this Friday.
"Reign" season 4 episode 5 will air on Friday, March 17, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
