'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date, news: Rockstar confirms fall 2017 arrival; trailer coming soon
It's official. After months of speculations, Rockstar Games has officially announced that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is in the works and will be arriving in the fall of next year.
The studio took to its various social media accounts to tease the game's existence, posting a different photo each day from Oct. 16 to 18. The first photo only saw Rockstar Games' logo with the color scheme switched — a black logo against a red background. However, it's not just any red — it's "Red Dead Redemption" red.

The following day, Rockstar Games posted a teaser photo of the same red background. But this time around, it also depicted a silhouette of seven cowboys in the distance with their weapons drawn as they posed on a grassy terrain against a backdrop of a sunset.

Finally, on Oct. 18, Rockstar Games released an up-close image of the cowboy silhouette with an official title and release period plastered on the image. It features the same outlaws from the prior teaser, only with a little more detailing. Above them is the title, "Red Dead Redemption 2," and below lies a release date set in the fall 2017.

But that isn't even the best part. The image also teased a trailer dropping on Oct. 20, 11 a.m. EST, which is only some hours away. Fans of the franchise can already pre-order through the game's website.
And while not a lot is known about the game's plot or setting, the website did shed some light on what players can expect. "'Red Dead Redemption 2' is an epic tale of life in America's unforgiving heartland. The game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience," the site reads.
Rumors previously indicated a fall 2017 release, and it looks like they've been proven true. As for what fans can expect, there has been talk of new playable characters and a bigger open-world territory.
