Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date, News: Rockstar employee reveals game being developed and provides key details

It has been five years since the most recent "Red Dead Redemption" installment was made available and fans of the game are becoming increasingly impatient for any news about the release of the second installment. There has been no official confirmation about the release date or even the existence of a second game, though a supposedly genuine leak now seems to confirm that the game is indeed under development.

"Red Dead Redemption", which was developed and published by Rockstar Games in 2010, is an "open world, western action adventure" video game, which tells the story of John Marston, a former outlaw, who will do whatever it takes to retrieve his wife and son taken hostage by the government.

The game had met with critical acclaim and was also a commercial success. "Red Dead Redemption" holds an impressive score of 95 out of 100 on Metacritic and was selected as Game of the Year by multiple media outlets, like GameSpy and GameSpot.

With so much praise being heaped on the game, it is no wonder that five years after the release of the initial installment, fans are waiting for a sequel to be available soon. Much to the delight of fans, a supposedly disgruntled Rockstar employee recently divulged the specifics regarding "Red Dead Redemption 2" on Reddit.

"Hello. I am a former Rockstar game dev. I will not give any more personal information for my safety. My boss was a major D*** so this is why I am leaking info on the upcoming Red Dead Redemption prequel. The sequel will be called 'Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West'. Although it is the second (or third if you consider Undead Nightmare a sequel) game, It is chronologically before the original game. The game will take place in the same area as the original game, twelve years before the first original game," claimed the post.

While the Rockstar employee's claims remain unconfirmed, its recent job posting for a new network programmer has only fuelled speculations that the leaks are genuine, with some fans assuming that the employee had probably been fired, thus creating a vacancy in the organization.

Rockstar has hinted that it will release a game by March 2016, but it is not yet known if the game developer is referring to "Red Dead Redemption."
