'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date in fall 2017: Take-Two Interactive not announcing sequel at Gamescom
It's a roller coaster ride of emotions for fans of "Red Dead Redemption" as new reports claim that Rockstar Games will not be announcing a sequel at the upcoming Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, Germany.
Fans were left disappointed in June after Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, failed to unveil the highly anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2" at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Then came the rumor that the studio would make a grand reveal at Gamescom 2016 after Take-Two Interactive confirmed its presence.
Unfortunately, reports have surfaced saying that it would not make any sense for the company to make a big reveal at Gamescom 2016. According to Gaming Bolt, the upcoming games event will be "the most low profile one in years" with not a lot of big names in the industry attending, so Take-Two would have no reason to announce it there. The publication also notes that the studio has so many other games lined up in its roster.
Additionally, according to Express, Take-Two Interactive has already given out its whole release schedule for the financial year and "Red Dead Redemption 2" is not a part of it. This could only mean that the sequel, depending on the game's existence, will not be released any time soon — at least not until April 2017.
However, despite the naysayers, there are still many fans out there who continue to cling on to the hope that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will see the light of day. Even if the sequel does not get released soon, it is widely believed that it is in development and may drop in the fall of next year. As for its title, it has been said that it will go by "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West." The game is also reportedly going to have more than one playable character and will take place in a much wider open world.
Since nothing has been officially confirmed, fans should take this news with a grain of salt for now.
