"Red Dead Redemption 2" is rumoured to be the next game released by Rockstar studios this coming E3. Some of the rumors mention that the game will be titled "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West" and that it will be released sometime this year. Other rumors suggest that the game will have three protagonists and are customizable. The idea of this rumor is taken from the design of "GTA 5," the more recent and popular game Rockstar studios has released.

In related news, publisher Take-Two Interactive explains how it is a bad idea to exploit the franchise. He said this during a business presentation in New York (via Gamespot). These publishers are always being requested by the market to annualize their games like what the sports genre of video games are doing. Take-Two's chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, said that the difference of non-sport title games is that it creates anticipation and demand. He also added that the company can still earn the same revenue doing what they do now compared to releasing games every year.

"What we would like to do is be able to have enough hit intellectual properties in any given year, whether we have Title A or Title B is not the issue. We'll have a handful of really great franchises and new intellectual properties that together really have the economic impact of an annualised business without the detriments of an annualised business," he said.

This is a plague in the video game industry where publishers and developers are constantly churning out the same game title, milking the franchise dry and not providing any significant change in gameplay experience and story.

Gamers will have to wait for the upcoming E3 to see whether the rumors of "Red Dead Redemption 2" are true and if the publisher will stop milking the franchise and lay off the game for another year to create demand and anticipation.
