'Pokémon Go' release date, news: Latest game update allows simultaneous multiple character transfer; devs team up with Sprint
Not long after the last update, Niantic Labs once again revamped one of the most famous mobile games of 2016. Trainers at "Pokémon Go" can now transfer multiple Pokémon at the same time. On the other hand, developers also announced a partnership with Sprint that will generate more gyms and Pokéstops.
The latest update arrived last Tuesday known as versions 0.49.1 for Android and 1.19.1 for iOS players. There were five main added and updated features of the game as the patch went live this week.
For starters, Niantic Labs made it possible for trainers to "transfer multiple Pokémon at a time to Professor Willow." As explained in the official Niantic Labs announcement, trainers will only have to "press and hold on a Pokémon" to start using this new feature.
Niantic Labs has also added icons to easily see the Pokémon types when trainers enter a gym. This feature has been added to the gym battle approach and gym battle screen.
Alongside additional features, Niantic Labs has also fixed some minor text bugs.
The developers also added another interface enhancement by displaying the total candy count for trainers' Buddy Pokémon and this can be seen on its information sheet. Trainers can also now easily track the distance that a Pokémon Buddy has walked on the information screen of every Pokémon that was once a trainer's buddy.
On other news, Niantic Labs has announced that Sprint is now its first U.S. partner. In a statement issued on Wednesday, developers announced: "We are thrilled to announce that we are working with Sprint to create a special Pokémon GO experience at over 10,500 Sprint locations around the United States. As part of this collaboration, Sprint, Boost Mobile and Sprint at Radioshack stores will become PokéStops and Gyms."
"Pokémon Go" developers also teased about more additional game features, events and even new Pokémon. Niantic Labs said: "We're excited for December because we have a few new experiences and in-game events planned for you ... Keep an eye out on our social media channels on December 12th for details about the first addition of more Pokémon into Pokémon GO."
