'Outlander' season 3 news, updates: Season 3 episode count has not been reduced, exec confirms
When Starz's historical time travel series "Outlander" returns for its third season, the adaptation will still feature 13 episodes, executive producer Maril Davis confirmed.
Reports have been circulating, suggesting that "Outlander" season 3 will have fewer number of episodes from its preceding season. Davis, however, recently debunked the rumors. She took to Twitter to respond to a fan's inquiry about the upcoming season. The fan asked if the rumors about the season 3 episode count being reduced to 10 is true. Davis shared that it is "not true." According to her, it is "fake news."
Cutting down the episode count does not entirely come as a surprise since the show has done this before. The pilot season of "Outlander" featured 16 episodes. This was eventually reduced to 13 in the succeeding season. Reports say that the production team might have found the magic number, 13. Hence, they might be sticking to this for a while. This total number allows the team to show as much content as they can from Diana Gabaldon's novels, while being able to maintain a tight script.
"Outlander" season 3 is still in production. The cast and crew of the show have been spotted in Cape Town, South Africa. Production for the upcoming season is expected to wrap up by June.
"Outlander" stars Sam Heughan, who portrays Jamie Fraser, and Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser, have been spotted in a mall in Cape Town. Although they are filming in Cape Town, in the series, the setting is supposed to represent Jamaica. Davis, along with her co-executive producer, Matthew Roberts, has been sharing the progress of the forthcoming season.
The third season of "Outlander" 3 has yet to receive a specific release date, but it is expected to debut sometime in September.
More updates should arrive soon.
