'Outlander' season 3 premiere spoilers: Casting for Young Ian and Lord John Grey now in the works
Emerging speculations have pointed lately to the reappearance of Lord John Grey in his older version and the introduction of the Young Ian character in the upcoming installment of Starz' time travel, historical drama hit "Outlander." So it wouldn't be a surprise to its fans to know that the next phase of which is to find out who will take these roles.
Luckily, the viewers won't have to wait that long as the people behind the popular show are now casting the character for Young Ian and Lord John Grey's adult version. Show's executive producer Maril Davis to her Twitter account and confirmed through a response to a fan who asked her if casting has already begun. Davis said, "we've started casting, yes."
Fans of the show and its printed version would know that the characters are based on Diana Gabaldon's Voyager material. It was previously reported that the third installment will be reintroducing Lord John Grey in his adult version along with the Young Ian character. Young Ian is the adventurous son of Ian and Jenny.
Meanwhile, showrunner Ron Moore has also expressed his anticipation on the new characters in his show. When asked which of the third or fourth installment character he was excited to cast, he tweeted, "Looking forward to Young Ian and Older Fergus."
The Lord John Grey character, as the Outlander series loyal viewers would know, is very popular among Gabaldon's readers. Grey has generated so much fame that Gabaldon went to pen on later a spinoff for the said character. However, the events in the Lord John Grey series won't necessarily be interspersed in the third installment of the Starz's show. Despite this, fans will still be able to experience a lot of screentime for the Grey character in the upcoming season.
