'Orphan Black' season 5 air date, spoilers: What main star Tatiana Maslany thinks about upcoming season

(Facebook/Orphan Black)The sestras and the revelation of the mystery that surrounds them are expected to happen in the fifth and final season of "Orphan Black."

The upcoming fifth season of "Orphan Black" will also be the last one for the show where actress Tatiana Maslany plays muitple personas. With the characters' lives in a web as many subplots come to a close, the main star has shared her thoughts on the final season.

During the San Diego Comic-Con, Showbiz Junkies had a chance to sit with Maslany for the roundtable interview. Among all clones, or "sestras" as they are called in the series, it is Rachel who is most aware and knowledgeable of the experiment.

Asked if redemption is possible for the character, Maslany said, "I think she reconciles, too that she's a clone. She's like the rest of them, that she's not different."

One of the characters in danger of dying when the season returns is Cosima and, without giving away her fate, Maslany said, "I don't want the characters to die but if the story does, then they could. It's kind of painful, but it is fun to work through those things."

Alison and Helena have the most interesting relationship among the sestras, and Maslany shared she would want to see more of them together in the upcoming season.

Aside from the sestras, it is Kira (Skyler Wexler) whose character continues to boggle viewers' minds. In an Ask Cosima Blog, it is revealed that a closer look at Kira's strange and intangible qualities will be featured. As the daughter of one of the sestras, Sarah, she has an unexplainable connection to all of them.

Her existence continues to puzzle the audience who are not sure whether she is human or not. If she is, to what extent should she be considered human? Sestras are supposed to be infertile and her conception summarizes the narrative of the series that includes chance and contingency.

"Orphan Black" season 5 is currently in production and the series is set to return in April 2017.
