'Orange is the New Black' season 4 news: Matthew Weiner is directing an episode; Laura Prepon sings his praises

(Netflix)

There have been a lot of speculations and rumours about what to expect for "Orange is the New Black" season four. But here's one that's neither speculation nor rumour but a definite thing happening for the new season: the creative genius behind "Mad Men' is on board to direct one episode.

"Orange is the New Black" creator Jenji Kohan had been friends with "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner for a long time. As such, the latter will be working on an episode of "Orange is the New Black," it being his first major project post the very successful run of "Mad Men." According to The Hollywood Reporter, this will be the first time weiner is directing a project he did not write himself. He is in good company, though, as other big names have also sat in the director's chair for the said Netflix series (Allsion Anders, Jodie Foster, and Nicole Holofcener among others).

By the time THR wrote the story, Weiner's episode was already on set and filming. A source from set informed the publication that the 50 year old writer, director, and producer was loving being on set. "OITNB" actress Laura Prepon echoed the same sentiment during the Nov. 17 Hollywood Foreign Press Association/InStyle Golden Globes soiree.

"We filmed a huge day on Sunday, and a lot of directors might have been overwhelmed by that, but he wasn't and he knew exactly what he wanted to do. With a huge cast like ours, when you have a director who knows exactly what they want, it makes everything go a lot smoother. I love Matt — he's awesome," the 35-year old actress said.

Unfortunately, Prepon cannot reveal too much details about the episode or else, she will "get in a lot of trouble."

No word yet when the all episodes of season four is dropping but "Orange is the New Black" is expected some time in 2016. Stay tuned for updates.
