'Orange is the New Black' casting news: production has started but no sign of Ruby Rose; what happens to Alex?

Inmates at Litchfield prison appear to be headed to darker and crazier times in season  four of "Orange is the New Black."

For one thing, it seems that there is a population explosion set to happen at Litchfield. Last season ended with buses arriving at the prison, presumably full of new inmates. The producers have also been doing the casting rounds, looking for Dominican type females and actresses that have not worked on the show before. A casting call also included requirements like "natural hair only, no wigs, waves, extensions, dreads, twists and no unnatural colors."

But what does the influx of new faces mean to the prison's veterans? Could they be replacements in the event that inmates like Alex and Stella will not come back?

Rumors have been swirling regarding Alex's (Laura Prepon) fate. It looked like she was killed off in last season's finale but a recent Instagram post of Prepon hinted that she might be coming back after all. However, fans know that coming back does not necessarily mean that the character is alive. There is still the possibility that her character is dead but will still be seen in flashbacks.

One actress who is vocal about her absence from the show is Ruby Rose. The Australian actress made such a big splash last season that you would think producers will be rushing to give her a meatier role in season four.

However, Rose recently revealed that production for next season has already begun in New York but she is not a part of it. She also admitted that she does not know if her character Stella will return, but if she does, "it would be a pretty hefty storyline."

The Netflix hit series is still months away from returning on air but fans are already hard at work speculating and digging through every bit of spoiler that they can find. Hopefully all their efforts would pay off once "Orange is the New Black" returns.
