NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti vs GTX Titan X: Which has more power?
Specs and other details of the yet-to-be released GTX 1080 Ti have said to have leaked and its performance is being compared to that of the GTX Titan X.
The details of the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti have been shared by Hardware Battle and, according to the specs and features, it is more powerful than the GTX Titan X. It shows that the GTX 1080 Ti will feature the GP102 GP with 3328 CUDA cores, 2018 texture mapping units, 160 render ouput units, and a speed of 1503 MHz, which makes for a 10 teraflops computing horsepower.
Unlike the rumors stating the GTX 1080 Ti will have a 12 GB GDDR5X memory, however, the data shows it will only have 10 GB worth of vRAM.
Other reports also suggest that while the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be more powerful than the GTX Titan X, it will be sold at a much lower price. This could only mean that purchasing the former has all the advantages over the latter.
It has been noted that while NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti does not have the full GP 102 variant that the GTX Titan X have, it will still provide the same power. GTX 1080 Ti only has 56 SMs, while GTX Titan has 60 SMs.
GTX 1080 Ti teraflops will also be lower than that of the GTX Titan, but its CUDA Cores will be higher, which will balance out the discrepancy between the two. The rumored price will be between $630 and $1,200 which is still quite high, but promises to be worth the money spent.
No official announcement has come from NVIDIA yet, however, and it would be best to take all information regarding the upcoming GPU with a grain of salt.
