(Google)Google Nexus 7 tablet lineup could be refreshed this year

Rumors have it that Google is developing an Android tablet called the Nexus 7, which is said to be launched in May during the I/O Developers Conference headed by the company.

The said conference is slated to happen from May 18 to 20, and it seems to be the perfect event to launch their new product. There are further speculations that the rumored tablet will be equipped with the Android N software.

According to speculations, Google has tapped the Taiwanese giant tech company, HTC, to build the Nexus 7. It is also said that the device is already on its trial run phase and being tested in case further improvements or fixes might be needed.

Observers say that it comes as no surprise that HTC was tapped by Google to build the Nexus 7 tablet considering the success the company had in building the Nexus 6P in 2015. With this in mind, many think that the Nexus 7 will be a bigger and better version of the 6P.

The company is said to have set strict specifications for the Nexus 7. Some rumors say that the new tablet is going to be equipped with Google's 3D Touch, an NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor, and 4 GB of RAM.

Google aims to market the Nexus 7 to companies and business people who are looking for a user-friendly and competent device. Moreover, the tech company wants to use the Nexus 7 to challenge Apple's iPad mini.

Aside from the Nexus 7, it is also rumored that Google and HTC have plans to develop a wide range of mobile devices, especially now that they have sealed a three-year partnership contract, according to the report on Know Your Mobile. Despite these rumors and speculations, however, Google has remained mum about the subject and has neither confirmed yet denied them.
