With two teams vying for one spot in the Eastern Conference finals of the NHL Stanley Cup, the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals will battle each other at the Madison Square Garden for the deciding Game 7.

The match will be played on May 13, 2015 at 7:30 PM ET.

Both teams have been very evenly matched in this series. Having built a rivalry over the past years, it is only fitting that they settle scores with a final game in the series.

New York were ranked higher and slightly more favoured in the series, with the team having already dismantled the Pittsburgh Penguins in the previous round.

However, it was evident that the Capitals were going to go toe-to-toe with the Rangers and are hoping to eliminate their second New York team after already seeing off the Islanders in the first round.

So far, the series has lived up to its lofty expectations.

Washington started the series with a big road win, but New York fought back in the next game to make things even.

From then on, the Capitals looked to be the better team, finding their shots more and being more aggressive, as they took the next two games to take a commanding 3-1 series lead, heading into Game 5 in New York.

However, the Rangers were far from finished as they clawed their way back into the series, starting off with a 2-1 overtime win at home. They were facing a deficit with less than nine minutes in the game, but Chris Kreider found the tying goal with less than two minutes left.

After that, Ryan McDonagh scored in overtime to give New York the lead and cut the series deficit to one game.

In Game 6 in Washington, the match was a high-scoring affair with New York scoring twice in the first period and early in the final period to lead 4-1 with less than 20 minutes remaining in the game.

However, the Capitals fought back and scored two goals in the final quarter to make a push for a tie, but ultimately failed and lost 4-3.

This now sets up an intriguing Game 7 where everything is on the line and both the teams are expected to give all they have got.
