'NCIS' season 14 spoilers: will DiNozzo return for McGee's wedding?

(Facebook/NCIS)"NCIS" season 14 will introduce agents Alex Quinn and Nick Torres.

A Tony DiNozzo-less "NCIS" is set to return to TV screens in a few weeks' time and fans are excited to see how the new agents will work with the more seasoned members of the team.

The show's 13th season ended on a sad but hopeful note. When former team member Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) was killed offscreen, it was revealed that she had a daughter with DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). While the team was able to avenge her death, Tony realized that he had a more important job now — taking care of his daughter Tali.

DiNozzo's departure has admittedly left a huge void in the team and fans are no doubt wondering how the three new team members will work out. Avid "NCIS" fans won't have to wait long as they will be seeing two of the newcomers in season 14's premiere episode.

According to TV Line, the first episode of the season will find Gibbs' (Mark Harmon) team investigating a car explosion that's connected to NCIS Special Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama). The case becomes more complicated when it's revealed that Torres disappeared six months ago while working undercover. Meanwhile, Gibbs asks Special Agent Alex Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) to shadow his team. Quinn apparently went to "NCIS'" headquarters to see why Gibbs had rejected the eight agents she had previously referred to fill in the vacancy left by DiNozzo.

A trailer for the upcoming premiere shows the team investigating what appears to be a car crash. Viewers also got their first glimpse of Agent Quinn when she arrives at the bullpen applauding something that Gibbs has done. The taciturn team leader invites her to "stick around and see first hand what kind of agent we need here." Wilmer Valderrama's Agent Torres is also shown. Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) describes him as "the best undercover ops we have around." The agent says he has never worked with a team before and Bishop (Emily Wickersham) tells him that "there's a first time for everything."

The third new member of the team, ex-MI6 agent Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry), will reportedly be appearing from episode 5 onward.

There are rumors that DiNozzo might be making an appearance next season when McGee (Sean Murray) and Delilah (Margo Harshman) finally tie the knot. According to reports, the two lovebirds will finally be taking that big step and their wedding won't be complete without Tim's best friend.

"NCIS" season 14 will return to CBS on Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.
