'NCIS: New Orleans' season 3 premiere spoilers: Sebastian's eccentric mother arrives in the Big Easy

(Facebook/NCISNewOrleans)Sebastian's mother visits the squad in "NCIS: New Orleans" season 3.

Sebastian Lund's (Rob Kerkovich) friends will find out exactly what a momma's boy he is in the upcoming season of "NCIS: New Orleans."

Entertainment Weekly reports that the forensic scientist's mother, Sylvia, will arrive in the Big Easy to see how her precious child is doing. CBS has tapped actress Wendie Malick to play the role in the new installment.

If viewers think Sebastian is eccentric, they might be surprised when they meet his mom. Sylvia is described as "a loving and overprotective mother" who shares her son's many quirks. Thoroughly engrossed in keeping her offspring healthy and safe, Sylvia does not care  that Sebastian is too old for her pampering.

Meanwhile, another star set to join NOLA this fall is "Graceland" alum Vanessa Ferlito. Her role as an FBI Special Agent, however, is reportedly for keeps, as she will be Meredith Brody's replacement in the show.

As per TV Line, Zoe McLellan has already left the CBS series. The decision to let go of her character was hinted at last installment when Brody became involved in a huge scandal. Because of her connection to a Homeland Security agent who was actually "a misguided zealot," Brody's job was compromised. This resulted to her resignation.

This is reportedly where Ferlito's character comes in since the agent will investigate the case and work alongside Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula). With the squad missing a member, Pride may offer the female agent a job with NOLA.

Spoilers claim that Ferlito will fill McLellan's position in the series. NOLA will have to adjust to having a new associate and may even feel some anger towards her. Will Ferlito's character do a good job just like Brody did for the squad?

"NCIS: New Orleans" season 3 will premiere on Sept. 20, Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
