'NCIS: LA' season 8 spoilers, plot: Deeks to get a new partner?

(Facebook/NCISLA)Deeks may have a new partner in "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8.

Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) may be getting a temporary partner while Kensi (Daniela Ruah) is out doing a mysterious task, as it has been previously teased that the character would be facing a life-altering condition in the new season of "NCIS: Los Angeles."

In real life, Ruah has gone on maternity leave, as she is close to giving birth to her second child with Olsen's brother. The actress recently talked about her sabbatical (as per TV Over Mind), stating that the viewers would not even realize she was gone. Production for season 8 started in July and Ruah has almost completed her shoots. She said the writers did a brilliant job with the production schedule. When she returns two weeks after giving birth, her storyline would flow seemlessly, as if she never took the time off.

"Because of the pregnancy they've [the writers] been forced to take a very drastic turn in this character's life. That brings something completely new for me to play. ... The way they've written the scenes I [will have] shot most of it before birth, a couple of weeks [after I give birth] I will be back to shoot a couple of scenes within that storyline. You won't even notice that I've been gone, I'll be in every episode," the actress said.

If Kensi will still be seen in all the episodes, there is no need for Deeks to find a new partner. Enstarz, however, suggests that it will be the perfect time for the showrunners to try out new pairings and see how it will work out. Deeks will likely be paired with Nell (Renée Felice Smith) again, since she once substituted for Kensi in the past. Although Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and Sam (LL Cool J) are pretty much a unit, it will also be interesting to see either of them become Deeks' partner for several cases.

CBS' "NCIS: Los Angeles" is set to return for its eighth season on Sunday, October 2, at 8 p.m. EST.
