'Narcos' season 3 plot rumors: Pablo Escobar's son claims father committed suicide; Javier Pena as new narrator?
The first two seasons of "Narcos" depicted the rise and fall of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, played by Wagner Moura. While Escobar's real son, Sebastian Marroquin, has claimed that his father committed suicide to evade capture on the day of his death, it is unlikely that the declaration will have an effect on the third season.
Marroquin, who changed his name from Juan Pablo Escobar, made the claim while at the launch of his new book, "Pablo Escobar: In Fraganti," reports Master Herald. Apart from that, the Netflix series, apparently, did not stay true to Escobar's story, as Marroquin added that there were more inaccuracies.
However, it is expected that Marroquin's words will not change the direction of the upcoming chapter of "Narcos." Season 3 is expected to focus on the Cali Cartel, whose rise was periodically documented in season 2.
It has already been reported that new faces are set to join the cast of season 3, but fans are wondering whether it will still include Boyd Holbrook. It can be recalled that Holbrook played DEA agent Steve Murphy, who was partnered with Pedro Pascal's Javier Pena. Pascal is set to reprise his role in the upcoming season, but Holbrook's return remains up in the air.
Pena is expected to take on a more central role in the series, as the season 2 finale teased what's to come for the character. It was initially thought that Pena would get fired from his post, but he was instead asked about his knowledge of the Cali Cartel, alluding to the agent's new assignment come season 3.
Reports have it that Holbrook may not reprise his role and that Pascal's character will act as the narrator, taking over from Steve Murphy. So far, Andrea Londo, Nicholas Gonzalez, Michael Stahl-David, Matt Whelan, Arturo Castro, and Kerry Bishé have been added to the season 3 roster.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for "Narcos" season 3, but it is expected to air in 2017.
