'Narcos' season 2 release date news: series to return in August? fans to see a softer side of Escobar?

(Facebook / Narcos)All episodes of "Narcos" season 1 is available for streaming on Netflix. Season 2 is underway and may be released by August.

As news and rumors continue to bathe the upcoming season of "Narcos," it is widely believed that Netflix will launch the second season by late August.

Though the network has not given official word on the exact release date of "Narcos" season two, many are expecting the show to return before August ends. The Bitbag suggests that the new installment will most likely premiere on the 26th as Netflix usually releases original shows on Fridays.

The upcoming episodes will focus on Pablo Escobar's (Wagner Moura) final 18 months of life. Having just escaped La Catedral, Pablo will be faced with multiple enemies, including the Search Bloc, a government-spearheaded Special Operations team that will operate for the purpose of catching the escaped drug lord, and the Cali cartel, Pablo's archenemies.

Though it saddens the showrunners to end Pablo's life, executive producer Eric Newman recently said there is no more turning back as the show was always meant to hit an ending. Unfortunately, the truth behind the prominent drug lord's death has to be told.

Another group rumored to have been involved in the killing of Pablo is the Los Pepes, who are defined in history as a group of vigilantes who seek vengeance against the Colombian kingpin.

Rumor has it that the Los Pepes accomplished a bloody campaign that took the lives of over 300 people related to Pablo by blood and acquaintance. Whether that story will be told in season two of "Narcos" has yet to be revealed.

Aside from the last few months of the kingpin's life, it is speculated that fans will also see a little bit of Pablo's good side before he decided to run down the lane of drugs and power. The speculations started after composer Pedro Bromfman told iDigital Times last month that Pablo once had a heart to help the needy.

"[Escobar] originally... wanted to help the poor, and he just went into this egomaniacal spin that took him as he started getting involved with drugs and getting rich and more powerful. He just thought he could do anything he wanted, and he forgot what he originally wanted to do, or thought he wanted to do," Bromfman explained.

Fans will have to wait further for official word regarding the exact premiere date of "Narcos" season two.
