Nexus 6 vs Moto G: Google planning to undercut the Moto G with a Nexus device below $100, reports say

Google Inc. is said to be planning to undercut the Moto G with the release of its next Nexus smartphone, the Nexus 6. Motivated by the way people find the Moto G an attractive deal for a low-priced smartphone with decent specs, the search giant reportedly wants to roll out a cheaper Nexus priced under $100, which is lower than the 8GB variant of Moto G.

Reports cited Chinese website MTKS.com, which states Google is partnering with MediaTek Inc. for the budget Nexus 6. MediaTek manufactures inexpensive processors which may mean Nexus 6 will be packed with a quad core processor, despite its low price point.

Google's Nexus is one of the most well-known smartphone series and Google is adding a member device to its Nexus series. The latest Nexus smartphone is last year's LG-manufactured Nexus 5.

If the low-cost budget smartphone does come into fruition, the price of the Nexus 6 could turn out to be a draw, especially if Google integrates the latest version of its Android mobile OS into the device. However, if that is the case, the Nexus 6 will most likely not become one of the Mountain View-firm's flagship phones.

There is still no confirmation on which of HTC or LG will be Google's partner for the Nexus 6. If Google sticks with LG, the Nexus 6 could turn out similar to the LG G3, which is rumored to have a 5.5–inch and 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution display.

Reports also claim that the Nexus 6 will sport an impressive 13 MP camera (and 5MP front-facing camera), Android 4.5 Lollipop, 3200 mAh battery, 64-bit Snapdragon 800 chipset, 3GB RAM, plus waterproof and dustproof features.

The Nexus 6 is expected to roll out to retail stores between October and November this year.
