Mortal Kombat X release date, characters: New DLC pack includes Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees
Following a highly successful launch that included record breaking sales, Mortal Kombat X is set to release the first of many DLC packs this coming May. The iconic fighting game has drawn rave reviews for its fitting visual aesthetic and solid character designs. The all new fatalities and its various variants have also impressed long-time fans of the series.
Whatever the case, the addition of new playable characters should inject an added dose of excitement for those already playing the game. The first DLC pack is headlined by horror icon Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th movie franchise. Given the character's grisly nature, Voorhees appears to be a natural fit for the equally gruesome Mortal Kombat environment.
Joining Voorhees in the DLC update are three new skins for existing characters Ermac, Mileena, and Reptile. All three will receive a horror themed skin making for a nice horror-themed DLC update.
Loyal 'Mortal Kombat X' players can also avail of the special "Kombat Pack" promotion that serves as a season pass that will automatically unlock a predetermined set of DLC upgrades. For now, the contents of the pack include four new characters and five new skin packs. As per Mortal Kombat Wikia, the specific additions are as follows:
Characters
Jason Voorhees, Predator, Tanya, and Tremor
Skin Packs
Samurai Pack (includes Samurai Shinnok, Ronin Kenshi, and Jingu Kitana), Ultimate Horror Pack (includes Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile, and Pharaoh Ermac), Klassic Pack #1 (includes Klassic Sonya, Klassic Liu Kang, and Klassic Kano), Predator and Prey Pack (includes Infared Scorpion, Commando Johnny, and Carl Weathers as Dillon for Jax), Klassic Pack #2 (includes Klassic Jax, Klassic Kung Lao, and Klassic Quan Chi)
