'Mortal Kombat X' Kombat Pack 3 release date news and updates: Third 'Kombat Pack' still a rumor; latest patch improved PC version of 'MKX'

(Facebook/MortalKombat)Ed Boon has teased the possibility of a "Kombat Pack 3."

Now that the "Kombat Pack 2" is out and the PC version of "Mortal Kombat X" is updated and finally running smoothly, gamers have now turned their attention to the rumored "Kombat Pack 3."

Warner Bros. and NetherRealm created quite a controversy early this year when they announced that no more updates or DLC were coming to the game's PC version. Apparently, all the upcoming content and patches would be geared toward the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

It came as no surprise when PC users were outraged and accused the game developer and publisher of abandoning them. Most of these gamers also quit playing the game's multiplayer version. But now it seems that the two companies have come to their senses and realized that shutting out gamers playing "Mortal Kombat X" on PCs was a humongous mistake.

Warner Bros. and NetherRealm are apparently trying to make amends via the release of a new patch that improved and rebalanced the game, added new graphics and gave users the Medieval Skin Pack and the Pit.

The patch came just ahead of the release of "Mortal Kombat XL," which includes the base game and the two previously released Kombat Packs. This means players who opted to purchase the "MKXL" would also have access to iconic villains like the Xenomorph from "Alien" and the infamous "Leatherface" from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" as playable characters. Unfortunately for those who already own "Mortal Kombat X" on PC, access to these players would mean purchasing "Kombat Pack 2."

Another DLC is being teased to be on the way — the "Kombat Pack 3." According to reports, a third DLC was hinted at by NetherRealm's director Ed Boon on Twitter last month. In a poll, Boon asked whether gamers would be buying the Xbox One S. But aside from the Yes or No answers, he also included a third option, the "Kombat Pack 3."

As expected, the third option received more votes and, since then, "Mortal Kombat" fans have been speculating which character would be included in the DLC. Some names that have come up are Baraka, Fujin, Noob Saibot, Rain, and Sindel.

However, the DLC hasn't been confirmed yet so fans shouldn't expect to see any DLC in the near future.
