'Mortal Kombat X — Kombat Pack 2' DLC news: Ed Boon teaseswho the new characters will NOT be
The tail-end of August has been rather trying for "Mortal Kombat" fans. During the release of "Mortal Kombat X," Warner Bros. and NetherRealm reassured the community that a version of the game would soon be available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
It has been months and still no update regarding the issue has been released. However, last Aug. 28, 2015, WB finally announced what avid and long-time players of the game have been dreading, which is "Mortal Kombat X" would not be getting an Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version.
"We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a "Mortal Kombat" game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned," explained admin, Yorick, in WB Games' community page.
Despite the terrible news, followers of the franchise took solace in the fact that a new DLC currently being called "Kombat Pack 2" is reportedly already in the thick of development.
Early in September, Ed Boon, director of the most recent "Mortal Kombat" title, teased fans by posting an image of silhouettes of the upcoming new characters.
"Who's Next?" read the image, which served as an announcement for the upcoming DLC as tweeted by Boon.
Unsurprisingly, players have since speculated on who would soon be featured on "Mortal Kombat X." While Boon has remained coy about the subject, he however hinted, in an earlier interview with Polygon.com, which characters would not be included in his project.
"I'd be hard-pressed to have a DC character as a downloadable character in 'Mortal Kombat X.' The main reason is, I have no desire to cut Batman's head off. I have no desire to kill Superman."
No exact date has been released as to when "Kombat Pack 2" would be available for download. However, the DLC is expected to drop before the first half of 2016 ends.
