'Mortal Kombat X' DLC news: Kombat Pack 3 details to be unveiled at EVO 2016

(Facebook/MortalKombat)NetherRealm is rumored to reveal Kombat Pack 3 in EVO 2016.

"Mortal Kombat X" has been making waves on the gaming scene lately, particularly due to the secrecy surrounding its Kombat Pack 3 DLC release. However, all signs point to the expansion's big reveal taking place at this upcoming EVO 2016.

Ed Boon, head of NetherRealm and director of "Mortal Kombat X," posted an update on his Twitter account in June. The tweet cleverly alluded to "Mortal Kombat X" news being unveiled at the event after he capitalized the letters E, V and O, while keeping the rest in lowercase.

The tease has understandably led fans to speculate that the news pertains to Kombat Pack 3, the upcoming DLC of the game. Many followers were not too pleased with the previous DLC because it did not contain the characters that were previously teased by NetherRealm.

With the latest hype surrounding the new DLC, however, it looks like fans will get to see Smoke, Fujin, Jade, Sindel, Li Mei, Noob Saibot, and Rain after all. The six characters are believed to be making an appearance in Kombat Pack 3.

Reports have also come to speculate that Kombat Pack 3 might be released early. If an announcement will be made at the EVO 2016, then it stands to reason that the DLC may see the light of day sooner than originally anticipated.

However, there are also those who cling to the hope that the revelation involving "Mortal Kombat X" could have something to do with PC gamers. Earlier this year, NetherRealm stopped releasing DLC support for PCs, which led to many grieving and infuriated fans.

As of now, these are all speculations and nothing has been confirmed by any party. Because of this, fans should take the news with a grain of salt. It's going to be a waiting game from here on out.

EVO 2016 will be happening from June 15 to 17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
