'Modern Family' season 7 spoilers, premiere date: Tucker-Pritchetts and Dunphys have some difficult times ahead; season premiere episode on September 23
Tough times ahead for television's funniest and (arguably) most loved family in season seven. "Modern Family" will see some crazier stuff happening, especially from Mitchell and the Dunphys kids.
At the end of season six, Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) finally found the courage to admit to Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) that he had been fired from his job, leaving their little family without a steady source of income. As was already previously reported, this will eventually cause tension between the partners but Cam thrives to ensure he brings home the bacon as he lets Mitch discover what it is he needs (and wants) to do.
Mitch, on the other hand, will find himself with lots of free time, which is a strange ground for him. He does odd jobs and even tries his hand at coaching Lily's soccer team, even though he does not know anything about the sport.
However, season seven's highlight is really the Dunphys. Claire (Julie Bowen) has always been a little strict and high-strung when it comes to parenting her three kids — Haley (Sarah Hydland), Alex (Ariel Winter), and Luke (Nolan Gould). But she, along with husband, Phil (Ty Burrell), undergo a different phase in parenthood, as their kids all grow up in the new season.
The new season promises to focus more on teen issues, including Hayley finally being in her first adult relationship. The eldest of the Dunphys kids will eventually be with Andy (Adam Devine) and the two grow into maturity together. Alex will then give Claire her first shot at experiencing the "empty nest syndrome," as she leaves for college. The not-so-little Luke will also go through a difficult phase, as he becomes sort of a "criminal," causing a rift between him and his father.
A lot of unexplored grounds for the Emmy award-winning family this season. Fans, who have been with them for the last seven seasons will surely have a lot to look forward to.
Watch the Pritchetts, Dunphys, and Tucker-Pritchetts when they return for season seven on ABC this Sept. 23.
