Game developer Mojang and console manufacturer Nintendo has finally and recently confirmed the existence of a "Minecraft: Wii U Edition" and has revealed that the Wii U port is now set to be released next week, Dec. 17, on the company's official Nintendo digital game store.
According to the report from Wired, Nintendo has finally confirmed to the fans that a "Minecraft: Wii U Edition" is now coming to their online game store and it is set to launch on Dec. 17 next week. The Wii U port of the popular sandbox IP from Mojang is said to be priced at $29.99.
As for its contents, the source has reported that the game's Wii U port will also come with the same contents from the other platforms like on Microsoft's consoles, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 and on the PC. This includes some free add-ons for "Minecraft: Wii U Edition" as well as paid branded contents like from the popular and long-running cartoon TV show "The Simpsons" and BBC's long-running Sci-Fi series, "Doctor Who."
The much awaited Wii U port of the critically acclaimed sandbox survival game is not really that much of a surprise considering that previous reports have already hinted out the potential nearing launch of it. Earlier last month, NeoGAF forum user HypnoDarkrai had posted the official listing of the game on the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) site.
However, after the official listing was spotted last month, fans have speculated that the release could very well land sometime November and some even predicted that it will be announced during Nintendo's live stream event last Nov 12. Unfortunately, none of the predictions and speculations was accurate.
"Minecraft: Wii U Edition" will be available next week in Nintendo's digital game store, Dec. 17 for $29.99.
