Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs rumors: Tablet hybrid to be available in 512 GB storage option
Microsoft is rumored to be launching the Surface Pro 5 early next year. And when it arrives, it is believed that it will come with a storage capacity unheard of for a portable device.
According to reports, the upcoming Surface Pro 5 is going to be available in varying storage options, the largest of which is 512 GB. Reports note that such a large SSD storage is impressive for a laptop/tablet hybrid.
It has also been speculated for quite some time now that the Surface Pro 5 will have Intel's new Kaby Lake processor under the hood. There is also talk of a rechargeable Surface Pen being available with the Surface Pro 5 bundle. Unlike the previous generation of the Surface Pen — which had to have its batteries replaced every once in a while — this one can be charged wirelessly using a magnetic dock.
Display-wise, the Surface Pro 5 will apparently have 4K resolution support — thanks in large part to Intel's latest chipset. There is also a rumor going around that it will have a fingerprint scanner on board, which can be accessed through a PixelSense display.
Apart from that, there will also be different ports available on the Surface Pro 5. There will be a USB Type-C port and a Thunderbolt 3 port. It is also expected to run on Microsoft's latest operating system, the Windows 10 Redstone 3.
As for its release date, reports claim that the upcoming device will hit store shelves in spring 2017. However, it is believed that Microsoft will unveil it to the public in February, along with the Surface Phone. The two devices will apparently make their debut at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.
However, Microsoft has yet to confirm the validity of any of these claims. For now, it would be best that readers take this news with a grain of salt.
