The imminent launching of the Intel Kaby Lake processor may play a significant role in determining the official or projected release date of the much-anticipated successor to Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

According to Kitguru, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may very well be arriving during the early months of 2017 due to the Kaby Lake processor. The timing could be golden as the company can prep up its devices while waiting for the official launching of the said processor. Further, the 2017 early release of the newest iteration of the Surface series may take advantage of the company's purported release of Redstone 2 which is touted as one of the major and most awaited updates on Windows 10.

Regardless of the newly surfaced speculations about its release date, Microsoft is still expected to make an announcement or at least a teaser two months from now as the company is gearing up for its new updates.

Apart from the next device's speculated processor, the newest iteration is also expected to pack more formidable features. Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may come with a 2K and 4K screens, the latter being made to consumers who are willing to spend more and who just enjoy a wider, more immersive experience. The device may also be coming with 16 GB of random access memory (RAM).

Moreover, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may now be equipped with a USB-C port as opposed to sporting the previous USB 3.0 port of its predecessor. Enhancements on its camera, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which may come with MU-MIMO support, are also to be expected.

Microsoft may be pricing its next device akin to its predecessors. But this may vary depending on its versions, RAM and storage.

For the time being, all this information has not been made official by Microsoft yet. Until then, a great deal of patience is needed. But that may not take much that longer as a series of surprises from the company is now being prepped up and further announcements may just happen anytime.
