Although Microsoft keeps mum about the release of its upcoming Surface Pro 5, several reports have been circulating that the tablet may come out in October. However, other reports argue that it will not be launched until next year.

According to reports, Microsoft may release the highly anticipated Surface Pro 5 within this year and it could be announced sometime in October. Other reports, however, have speculated that it will most likely be introduced and released in the first quarter of 2017. Apparently, the reason for the delay is the processing chip that will power the tablet, which is Intel's Kaby Lake processor.

Apart from the Kaby Lake chip, speculations on the tablet's specifications include a 4K display, which the processor is capable of powering. The reason why Microsoft is rumored to be including 4K is to match up and become a strong competitor to the Apple's iPad and MacBook.

The Kaby Lake is reportedly both powerful and efficient. It can process 40 times better than its predecessor without too much heat and lesser battery consumption. If this proves to be true, then the tech giant can enhance more of its other specs.

The Surface Pro 5 may also come out in three variants — a 21-inch, 24-inch, and 27-inch display. Since it could support 4K resolution, there are rumors that it may also get a whopping 16 GB of RAM matched with a Surface AIO graphics processor. As for its camera, the device may sport a 16-megapixel lens at the rear part and an 8-megapixel lens at the front. Surface Pro 5 may also operate on Windows 10's latest Redstone 2 OS update.

Because of the upgraded specs, it could also entail an upgrade in its pricing. The current Surface Pro's starting price is $799. Rumor has it that Microsoft may increase the price with $100 more.

More details on Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may soon be announced.
