Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date this fall or delayed to next year
When the Surface Book launched last year and subsequently arrived in markets, customers and reviewers gave the device a rousing reception. However, since then, it has not been smooth sailing for the device which has been besieged with power management issues. But now, current indications are pointing to the Microsoft Surface Book 2 arriving either in the fall of this year or in the early part of 2017.
There have been several conflicting rumors arriving about the Microsoft Surface Book 2 over the past few months. In all of these, there has been a common thread that the company is looking for ways to improve the chipsets on it and possibly use the Kaby Lake processors from Intel which have not yet been released. Taking this into account, a previous report from a website states that the Surface Book 2 will only release after the new processors have been launched and are in the their mass production phase. There are also indications that the Kaby Lake processors from Intel could only arrive at the beginning of next year and will be showcased at CES 2017 which takes place in January.
This means that the Surface Book 2 could arrive during the Spring of next year and not before the Kaby Lake processors arrive. However, this is just a rumor for now and Microsoft could choose to use another processor on the upcoming devices in its Surface lineup including the Surface Book 2. Microsoft is also rumored to be releasing the Redstone 2 update to Windows 10 in the spring of next year and this is when the next generation Surface Book could be expected.
However, Microsoft recently hinted to The Verge that it was going to release new devices in the fall of this year but provided no more information about whether new models in the Surface lineup will be among them. Also, the upcoming model is expected to provide gamers with a better experience and there are indications that it will have a GeForce 980M video card along with a 4K screen.
