Microsoft Surface Book 1TB: dig deep - pre-orders available now for laptop-tablet hybrid priced $3,199

(Microsoft Store)

Microsoft has already sold out its earlier versions of the Surface Book. That's a very remarkable feat, considering that the laptop-tablet hybrid has only been in the market for roughly two weeks and that the company has not even unveiled its biggest "weapon" yet in the said line. Those who have been patient enough to wait and who have deep pockets can now pre-order the best Surface Book yet to be released.

During the unveiling of the Surface Book earlier this month, Microsoft announced that it will also come in a 1TB solid-state drive. That was, unfortunately, unavailable when the Redmond-based company started pre-selling the device on Oct. 7. Back then, the choices were only 128, 256, and 512. Those who rushed into getting onboard Microsoft's first foray into the laptop business still got a pretty good storage but the patient is indeed rewarded.

The Microsoft Store has already displayed the 1TB Core Intel i7 model and it is now available for pre-order. It also ships with 16GB of RAM and dedicated graphics. But before shelling out some hard-earned cash, know that the specs don't come cheap. The creme of the crop Surface Book comes with a hefty $3,199 price tag. Not only that, it won't ship right away or even at launch (which is on Oct. 26). Checking the online store, those who order today won't get the device until Jan. 22.

So maybe it's best to wait. Or maybe opt for the 256 and 512GB models with dedicated graphics (the former available in i5 and i7 versions, the latter only i7), which ships in six to seven weeks. Still a long wait due to high demand but not as bad. Those looking at being one of the early adapters may also order the 128 and 256GB models, but no dedicated graphics. Either model ships in four to five weeks.
