Microsoft Surface AIO release date with Kaby Lake chip rumored for 2017

(Microsoft)Inset is the Microsoft Surface Book. The rumored all-in-one PC from Microsoft will be powered by the next generation Kaby Lake chipset from Intel.

Tech vendor Microsoft has manifested that they can go head on with the current frontrunners in the mobile gadget race. With devices such as the Microsoft Surface Book and the Microsoft Surface Pro series, it proves that they too can produce quality ultra portable devices,. According to reports, the company is also now planning to make their very own all-in-one (AIO) PC.

An AIO PC is basically a computer with its other components, including the central processing unit, built within the PC's monitor.

The AIO PC will be part of the Microsoft Surface family and there are speculations that it will be unveiled sometime during the third quarter of this year, but the mentioned timeline has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft.

Furthermore, the rumored AIO PC will definitely rival Apple's iMac that has been around on the market for 18 years now and budget-conscious consumers will see for themselves whether the AIO PC from Microsoft will be worth every penny or otherwise.

Meanwhile, the release of the forthcoming Surface Book will be pushed back to next year and one of the reasons for this that reports point out to is the upcoming release of Intel's next-generation processors known as the Kaby Lake, which is expected to be mass produced later this year or early next year.

Having said that, the AIO PC from the tech giant might be experiencing the same fate to show the consumers the potential of the yet-to-be-announced AIO Surface being powered by the upcoming chipset.

Moreover, Microsoft still has to comment about the upcoming PC's specifications and aesthetics, including the mentioned timeline of its release. And if the AIO device from Microsoft would ever materialize, the company's latest offering will positively make its mark and challenge the two current leaders in the AIO market, namely Apple with its iMac, and the Beijing-based Lenovo with their current 900 series of all-in-one PCs.
