With Windows 10 just around the corner, there have been reports of Microsoft getting ready to release two new smartphones, which could be true successors to the Lumia 930. Earlier leaks had revealed that the devices would come with some high-end hardware specifications, indicating that the Redmond giant is planning to go all out to compete against high-end Android and iOS devices. New reports now confirm the high-end hardware specifications of Microsoft's upcoming smartphones and also reveal that they could pack new business-related apps.
Earlier, it had been rumored that Microsoft was developing two flagship smartphones — the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940XL. According to the latest reports, the Lumia 940 will feature a 5.2-inch display with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and will be powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The Lumia 940 will sport a powerful 20MP camera out of the box and pack a decent 3,000mAh battery. Microsoft's second upcoming smartphone, the Lumia 940 XL, will feature a larger 5.7-inch display with a similar QHD resolution and will be powered by an octa-core version of the Snapdragon 808, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The Lumia 940 XL will sport a 20MP frontal camera and pack a larger 3,300mAh battery.
Meanwhile, new leaks have revealed that Microsoft is developing two new productivity apps for users of Windows Phones, such as the upcoming Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL. The first app named InstaNote will allow future owners of Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL to take voice notes, retain conversation details, and also share it with others. The second app called Dialer for Lync will allow Windows Phone users to join a meeting of Lync (Skype for Business) by a voice call from their smartphone.
Microsoft has said that it will not release a new flagship Lumia phone before the launch of Windows 10 this summer. This means that the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL could be released by around June this year, the same month that Windows 10 will be officially released.
