"Mass Effect" fans should take heart, as the game might indeed hit its promised release date, considering that one of the development team's members had already played one part of the game.

The news came from BioWare's Jos Hendriks, a technology designer working on EA's latest "Mass Effect" game. Hendriks posted his excitement on being able to play "Mass Effect: Andromeda" on Twitter.

While Hendriks' excitement was palpable, even teasing fans that he already had his first "holy s*** moment," he was also quick to point out that he was only playing the content he worked on and doesn't know the whole context of the game yet.

It goes without saying that his tweet prompted a lot of questions from fans and other insiders. While the designer's non-disclosure agreement prevented him from revealing much about the game's mechanics or plot, he did imply that the game expanded on the elements that fans were already familiar with. Crossmap even listed down the conversation he had with one insider using the handle @shinobi601.

Even though Hendriks was only playing a part of the game, it's heartening for fans to know that at this stage, there are parts of it that are already playable.

Electronic Arts previously stated that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will hopefully be released before the end of the 2017 fiscal year, which in layman's terms means before March 31, 2018. It also means that, publicity-wise, the game has to come out with a major trailer by the time E3 2016 hits.

There's very few concrete information about "Mass Effect: Andromeda," although fans know that the game takes place after the events of "Mass Effect 3" and that Commander Shepard's time is over.

The game will reportedly engage fans of the original trilogy while also capturing the attention of a new set of gamers by exploring a different galaxy. The developer has also underlined that exploration will be one of the central themes of "Mass Effect: Andromeda."

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will reportedly run on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, as well as the PC.
