A couple of weeks before Nintendo releases more information about their upcoming hybrid portable console called the Switch, the developer of "Mass Effect: Andromeda," BioWare, revealed that they don't have plans to port the game to the yet-to-be-released console. However, their "door isn't closed" for any possibility.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare. Its publisher is Electronic Arts. It is a standalone title in the "Mass Effect" franchise and will let players choose to play as either Sara Ryder or Scott Ryder in a third-person perspective.

When Stevivor asked game producer Mike Gamble about their plans for the game in relation to the upcoming Nintendo Switch console, he answered: "Not right now, no. We're not planning on it. If the Switch launches and everyone's just yammering for Mass Effect, who knows." He adds, "We never want to close doors like that."

BioWare has just announced that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be released on March 21 in the United States and on March 23 in Europe.

In the same Stevivor report, Gamble revealed that BioWare is going to discuss necessary enhancements of the game to adapt to higher-end gaming with PlayStation 4 Pro sometime between January and February.

It can be recalled that previously, EA teased that they are going to include one of their "bigger games" in the list of titles that support Nintendo Switch. EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said during the UBS Global Technology Conference in San Francisco, California last November, "We haven't yet announced what game, but you should assume that it's one of our bigger games."

Given the more recent statement from Gamble, gamers can now cross "Mass Effect: Andromeda" out from the list of the Nintendo Switch games' wishlist.

As for the Nintendo Switch, its Japan-based makers are expected to announce more about its featured games, specs and accessories in a special event on Thursday, Jan. 12, 11 p.m. EST. The event will be streamed online.

So far, rumors have it that Nintendo Switch will possibly have its own virtual reality headset and might also sport a non-removable battery pack.

The Nintendo Switch is expected to hit the market in March.
