Mario Kart 8: track list unveiled for May 30 release date

Nintendo has released the tracklist for its upcoming game Mario Kart 8 Wii U, featuring 32 tracks upon release. On the game's release date, May 30, you can finally start your engines and battle all the familiar characters from the Mario universe as the game is released in Japan, North America, Europe, Brazil and Australia.

Mario Kart 8 Wii U features 16 remixed courses, and 16 brand new tracks. Both veteran and rookie players will enjoy trying out karting and experience the thrill of the race, which features gravity-defying speeds, as well as vertical or upside down racing on many of the tracks.

The tracklist is composed of the following (with original platforms in parantheses, courtesy of Nintendo of Europe):

1. Mushroom Cup - Mario Kart Stadium, Water Park, Sweet Sweet Canyon and Thwomp Ruins.

2. Flower Cup - Mario Circuit, Toad Harbour, Twisted Mansion and Shy Guy Falls.

3. Star Cup - Sunshine Airport, Dolphin Shoals, Electrodome and Mount Wario.

4. Special Cup - Cloudtop Cruise, Bone Dry Dunes, Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road.

5. Shell Cup - Moo Moo Meadows (Wii), Mario Circuit (GBA), Cheep Cheep Beach (DS) and Toad's Turnpike (N64).

6. Banana Cup - Dry Dry Desert (GCN), Donut Plains 3 (SNES), Royal Raceway (N64) and DK Jungle (3DS).

7. Leaf Cup - Wario Stadium (DS), Sherbet Land (GCN), Music Park (3DS) and Yoshi Valley (N64).

8. Lightning Cup - Tick-Tock Clock (DS), Piranha Plant Slide (3DS), Grumble Volcano (Wii) and Rainbow Road (N64).

9. Ballon Battle Courses (Battle Mode in Europe) - Moo Moo Meadows (Wii), Dry Dry Desert (GCN), Donut Plains 3 (SNES), Toad's Turnpike (N 64), Mario Circuit, Toad Harbour, Sherbet Land (GCN) and Yoshi Valley (N64).

According to Nintendo, Mario Kart 8 Wii U is the most ambitious game in the series yet, and will provide hours of fun and let gamers feel the adrenaline rush as their vehicles rocket across the ceiling. 

In a Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing, Scott Moffitt, said, "Everyone loves Mario Kart. It's a franchise that brings people together for fun at a family gathering, a frenzied race against friends or just an afternoon break at the office. The numerous new features of Mario Kart 8 make this the most ambitious version yet, and one that will have players of all skill levels racing for the checkered flag."
