Manchester United rumors: United miss out on Ramos

Manchester United have apparently lost their chase to land Real Madrid defender, Sergio Ramos, as reports claimed that the Spaniard has signed a new deal with the Los Blancos.
It has been no secret that the Red Devils have long wanted to bring Ramos over to Old Trafford in order to boost their defensive line-up as they return to the UEFA Champions League in the coming season — as well as try to climb back up the rankings towards another English Premier League title.
There have been speculations on a large sum of money that Madrid reportedly wanted to gain for them to give up Ramos and United have been more than happy to show just how much they wanted to get the defender.
Talks of a possible deal involving Madrid target, David de Gea, have also been talked about in a swap between the teams plus additional cash for United in order for both teams to be satisfied.
Unfortunately, claims have risen that Ramos is going to stay with his current club.
Spanish football insider, Tom Conn, shared the details of the deal between Ramos and Madrid, "Sergio and Rene (Ramos' brother and agent) explained to Real Madrid sporting director Jose Angel Sanchez that his desire was to retire with the club, which they then reiterated to Florentino Perez. Florentino, not previously realising the gravity of his refusal to accept Ramos' wage demands, apologised for the misunderstanding and agreed to renew the contract of the club's future captain."
However, not all is lost for United as they are also trying to sign a player from another La Liga giant as the Premier League club is looking at Pedro from Barcelona.
According to reports, Pedro wants more playing time for the Catalans. Unfortunately, with the line-up of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar, Pedro often sees himself as the odd-man out in the group.
Now, United are ready to give Pedro the time on the pitch he needs, with Barcelona reportedly asking for £22 million to get Pedro.
This figure does not seem to faze the Old Trafford club so expect more updates on this soon.
