'Mafia III' news, updates: Devs release free DLC with new game modes and customization
Developers recently released another set of post-launch content for "Mafia III," and this time it contains new options for car customizations, car races and more outfits for the main protagonist Lincoln.
In the official announcement of the new contents, Developer Hangar 13 and publisher 2K Games recognized that the wider car customization option is one of the most requested update by fans. "We're delivering with some seriously cool customizations for Lincoln's fleet of up to 10 cars," the developers added.
Six of the new cars can be earned while playing the game. Meanwhile, players who purchased the Family Kickback for $4.99 in "Mafia III's" digital store can have automatic access to three new cars while the last car out of the 10 can be unlocked through winning races.
"Mafia III" developers once again reiterated that the game is highly inspired by late 1960s and early 1970s films that feature classic car chases. Since the game already features a lot of that classic element, the developers pumped up the game even more by adding car races.
However, players can only access the car races after their encounter with the three lieutenants. After that meeting, players will only need to spot any marker for the race anywhere in New Bordeaux to access the new content.
The 10th car will be unlocked once players get to win the top spot. After achieving the top bill, players will have to collect a pink slip to get their new car and start customizing it.
Hangar 13 and 2K Games explain: "First step to your very own custom, cherry-ed out rides: Get over to one of the nine Big Rick's Garage locations around New Bordeaux. From there, start selecting what kind of Decals, Exhausts, Spoilers, Superchargers and Wheels you want on your car. With this content patch, you'll have over 50 unique customizations for your fleet."
Alongside these major additions, developers also brought in new outfits for Lincoln while promising to bring more new content such as "more customization and the ability to further enhance the performance of the cars in your fleet" sometime early next year.
