Elizabeth's (Téa Leoni) attempt to stop a war may get her in big trouble with the United Nations in the upcoming episode of "Madam Secretary."

In the episode titled "Snap Back," the synopsis (as per CarterMatt) reveals that Iran and Israel are very close to declaring war against each other. The U.N. Security Council has decided to intervene and is already ironing out the sanctions against Iran, but it might just be too late. Israel has already made up its mind to go after the Iranians as news of the country's suspected nuclear activities have astounded the world.

But Elizabeth has a different idea. She thinks she can stop Israel from making rash decisions it will soon regret. Her involvement, however, may not go well with the people from the U.N.

Meanwhile, Russell (Zeljko Ivanek) thinks he has the perfect solution to Dalton's (Keith Carradine) predicament. The POTUS needs votes from the Congress to win in the elections. Because of the recent allegations against his administration, his campaign is suffering. Russell believes they know someone who can help.

Congressman Jeff Pearson (Michael Cerveris) is a close buddy of Henry's (Tim Daly) from the Air Force. Russell will try to convince Henry to get his friend to back Dalton in the House's election vote. He knows this is the only way they can turn the tide in his candidate's favor. Will they succeed?

Last episode, the public had a field day talking about the McCords. Their youngest child, Jason (Evan Roe), decided that he would support a different presidential candidate than the one his parents preferred. Instead of cheering for his mother's boss, Jason chose to go public and campaigned for Dalton's closest rival. He was even caught speaking at a rally, wearing a shirt with his candidate's face on it. The McCords were mortified with Jason's actions. Considering that Elizabeth is the Secretary of State in Dalton's administration, her son's choice made them the laughingstock of the whole country. Dalton was definitely not pleased.

"Madam Secretary" season 3 episode 9 airs Sunday, Dec. 11 at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
