MacBook Pro, MacBook Air 2016 specs, release date: Apple to unveil laptops at Oct. 27 event?
Speculations are rife that Apple is about to unveil its latest MacBook Pro and MacBook Air iterations at the upcoming event scheduled for Oct. 27. The company has already sent out invites to the occasion, which is going to be held at the Apple campus in Cupertino.
There were previous rumors going around that Apple may axe its MacBook Air lineup in favor of the MacBook and MacBook Pro. However, nothing of the sort has been officially confirmed so far. Despite the rumors, there is wide belief that both the MacBook Air 2016 and MacBook Pro 2016 will be unveiled at the upcoming Apple event.
But what can fans expect from the two laptops?
First of all, the MacBook Pro 2016 is said to have an OLED panel situated above the keyboard. This is a new feature that will give the user quick access to certain tools. It is also believed that the upcoming model is going to be the thinnest in the lineup, which has sparked some speculations that the company may be getting rid of the 3.5-mm headphone jack as it did with the recently released iPhone 7. However, some reports believe that the headphone jack will still be present.
The MacBook Pro 2016 is also expected to run on Intel's Skylake processor instead of the Kaby Lake processor. This is because the Kaby Lake processor was released late in the game for Apple to have used it on the MacBook Pro. Its GPU is believed to be from AMD and its battery life is said to have improved.
As for the MacBook Air 2016, there is also some belief that the upcoming laptop is going to be thinner than the last. Apple has a known streak for making each generation thinner than the previous one, so this news comes as no surprise. Like the MacBook Pro 2016, the MacBook Air is expected to be powered by Intel's Skylake processor and an AMD graphics card. There is also some talk of a Touch ID fingerprint sensor being included in the device.
The Apple Pen is, likewise, expected to be compatible with the MacBook Air's track pad. However, the stylus is going to be sold separately.
Since everything is still up in the air at the moment, fans should take this news with a grain of salt. All there is to do is wait until Apple's event to see if the world will finally get a new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
