MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs, features: October arrival may be a reality

(Apple)The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to arrive in October.

The upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 has been the subject of many rumors. And while it has been speculated that it may arrive next month during an event Apple is hosting, no reports seem to confirm this. However, according to one analyst, an October release does seem likely.

According to a report, the MacBook Pro 2016 may be unveiled alongside the MacBook Air 2016, which was previously rumored to have been scrapped by Apple.

"Production started in the second calendar quarter on refreshes of the 13.3-inch and 15.4-inch MacBook Pro [and] the 13.3-inch MacBook Air," Rhoda Alexander, Direcror Tablet and Notebook PCs at IHS Markit Technology, told Forbes.

As for the rumored processor coming on board the laptop, it was previously speculated that Intel's latest Kaby Lake chip may be found under the hood. However, it should be noted that the time frame of the laptop's production and the release of Intel's new processor do not coincide. Thus, it is expected that the MacBook Pro 2016 will have SkyLake instead of Kaby Lake.

It definitely appears as though Apple is gearing up for a release, especially since the Cupterino tech giant has started to offer discounts for its current offerings. Prices have been reduced by $200 and a decrease in retail price certainly means that it's making room for a new iteration.

As for the specifications and features that the MacBook Pro 2016 will sport, it is known that the laptop will adopt an OLED bar above its keyboard. This is a new feature that Apple is offering and it allows for easy and fast access to some of the laptop's features, including notifications. It is also expected to arrive without a headphone jack, much like the new iPhone 7, which will allow the company to adjust the thickness of the device. It is believed that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be the lightest and thinnest in the lineup.

Since Apple has not confirmed this news, though, readers should take it with a grain of salt for now.
