The MacBook Air 2016 was previously reported to not be arriving in September, but some are still hoping for its appearance in today's event.

Apple is kicking off their keynote event later this Wednesday. Apple has not confirmed what they have in store for fans, but Mac World is hopeful that the MacBook Air 2016 will be unveiled.

However, this is not in line with a leak from a source. According to Bloomberg, its sources familiar with the matter indicated that no new Macs are set to be revealed at the said event. Instead, the Cupertino-based company will release some of the new Macs in October, which may include the planned refresh of the MacBook Air 2016.

These sources also revealed an update that is coming to the Air, namely a USB Type-C port. This is a rather minimal change, but rumors are suggesting an upgrade in processor as well. It is said that it might come with the new Intel Skylake processor, seen on this year's 12-inch MacBook.

Other speculated specs include a longer-lasting battery, a thinner body and a better cooling system, as per iTech Post. The new Air might also feature a fingerprint sensor that works similarly to Touch ID.

As for pricing, the iTech Post report noted a $899 and $999 price tag on its 11-inch and 13-inch variants respectively. The speculated prices are the same as the current-generation's, as can be seen in Apple's website.

Fans are advised to take these rumors with a grain of salt.

On another note, fans and industry observers can expect the iPhone 7, Apple Watch 2 and the iOS 10 to be revealed at their event starting at 10 a.m. PDT at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
