Even though Apple just recently held its Sept. 7 event, the tech giant remains tight-lipped about any information about its laptops, including the MacBook Air. Rumor has it that Apple may have a special launch in October; other reports also say that the upcoming MacBook Air may be the last iteration.

Apple made headlines on Sept. 7 after unveiling its newest iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2. However, a lot of gadget enthusiasts were disappointed to learn that the tech giant still has not revealed any information regarding its computer and laptop lines.

According to reports, the new MacBook Air may be launched along with the other Mac computers in a special event in October. It can be noted that Apple updated its Mac line last year in October as well. If they follow the same pattern, then the upgraded MacBook Air may be revealed on the same time and finally get the Retina display that it needs.

However, there are other reports saying that if the Cupertino-based company does release the Air laptop, it could be its last. The past upgrades of MacBook Air have been less stellar. Some critics and regular users even think that the line may be stagnating and has not been innovative.

Rumors have been circulating that Apple may even consider cancelling the line. However, it is possible that the company will still release a last iteration before completely scrapping it. Also, Apple may be focusing on its other lighter and thinner laptop line MacBook or will make the MacBook Pro a lot lighter and thinner.

As for its rumored specs, the new MacBook Air may no longer have an 11-inch model since the MacBook and the iPad Pro are already capable devices with that dimension. The upcoming laptop may also feature the USB Type-C, Touch ID technology, and may finally get a Retina display.

More details on the upcoming MacBook Air may soon be announced.
