The MacBook Air 2016 may be coming soon, Apple CEO Tom Cook hinted.

The MacBook Air 2016 did not make an appearance on Sept. 7, which led to rumors of a fall release. While the months of this year are quickly passing by without a new Air, it is still believed that the device will arrive before 2016 ends, Christian Today reported.

While Apple is yet to announce a new event, Cook teased that revamped Mac products are coming soon.

"I love the Mac, and we are very committed to it," said the CEO in a reply to a MacRumors reader's email. "Stay tuned." The email was deemed to be legit as it can be traced back to an Apple corporate server.

The statement heralded rumors that new Mac products, which might include the Pro, Air and iMac, will be announced in October.

This corroborates the leak from Bloomberg's sources who claimed that the Mac lineup is going to receive a makeover. They also revealed that the Cupertino-based company is thinking of a reveal in October, but not every Mac might be included.

As for rumored specifications, the MacBook Air 2016 is said to be updated with the newest USB Type-C port. Aside from that, there are also rumors of an integrated Touch ID sensor and Siri.

Other likely updates include the Intel Skylake processor and a Retina display, which has been speculated for years now.

As for variants, there are reportedly two: a 13-inch laptop and a 15-inch one. This follows the sizing in MacBook Pro, which means that consumers might not be able to enjoy an updated 11-inch variant anymore.

There were previous reports saying that the MacBook Air will be axed soon, but many are optimistic that Apple will still keep it as their entry-level laptop.
