MacBook Air 2016 release date, specs rumors: Analyst says October is likely

(Apple)The MacBook Air 2016 is rumored to arrive in late September or October.

Apple's MacBook lineup has always been surrounded by gossip and rumors. Many have been wondering when the next MacBook Air will arrive. But according to one analyst, avid fans may not have to wait too long.

While it has been reported that the MacBook Air 2016 will hit the market in the fourth quarter, an exact date has yet to be uncovered. It is also unknown if the MacBook Air will drop earlier or later than the equally anticipated MacBook Pro 2016. However, as far as rumors are concerned, it may go either way.

According to Forbes, though, one analyst claims that the two Apple laptops will arrive in late September or October. Since September is almost over and October falls well within the fourth quarter projection, chances are high that the two laptops will see a release during the latter.

"Production started in the second calendar quarter on refreshes of the 13.3-inch and 15.4-inch MacBook Pro [and] the 13.3-inch MacBook Air," Rhoda Alexander, Director Tablet and Notebook PCs at IHS Markit Technology, told the publication.

This is certainly good news for those who are looking forward to buying either variant. And even though a lot of reports have claimed that the next MacBook Air and Pro 2016 will get the Kaby Lake processor, it does not seem likely that Intel's new technology will make it to the laptops. This is because production began well before Intel released the new chipset.

As for the specifications and features that will come with Apple's latest offering, it is believed that it will have a retina display, as well as AMD's Radeon RX 400 series for the graphics department. It is also expected to have a trackpad that will complement the Apple Pencil.

There were previous rumors claiming that Apple may be doing away with its MacBook Air lineup to focus on the Pro models instead. However, given the latest news from Alexander, it looks like the MacBook Air is here to stay.
